| Trip Description |
In less than a month, a team from the Kansas City Baptist Temple, the Blue Springs First Bible Baptist and the Lewisburg Baptist Temple will join forces in ministering to Zambian believers at the Kafulafutu Mission. This team comprises two Jamaicans as well, Bro. Bob Weston and Dr. Lloyd Burnett. They are scheduled to leave on August 3rd and return home August 18th. Together, they will assist Randy and Julie Foster in hosting the Annual Believers Conference. This conference attracts thousands of believers from hundreds of churches in the bush region of northern Zambia, in what is called the Copper Belt. Most of those attending will be men, women and children from the Lamba Tribe.
During this trip, the team will conduct a Vacation Bible School for around 2,500 kids. There will be a Dental Clinic open to the public that Dr. Jim Elias will direct and oversee. A Pastor's School will be held during the week for hundreds of pastors, deacons, teachers, women leaders and church leadership. And every morning and evening, a Crusade will be held for those in attendance, attracting an average of about 6,000 adults. The team will help in every aspect of this conference. Pray for them.
It is our greatest desire to see a partnership develop between the Zambian people and the Jamaican people. Jamaica has always seen themselves as a Missionary Field, and we believe the time is right to see Jamaica rise up as a powerful Missionary Force. The opportunity for both countries to work together in building the kingdom of Christ is rich. Please pray for Bro. Bob Weston and Dr. Lloyd Burnett as they give of themselves in this endeavor.
This team is being headed up by Mark McGaughey and Kelly Sapp. Other team members are: Jeff Adams, Jim Elias, Rick Summers, Walt Calahan, Pat Calahan, Jay Grimwood, Holly Grimwood, Megan Grimwood, Alinda Murphy, Joan Deans, Jolley Scott, Bob Weston and Lloyd Burnett. Kansas City Baptist Temple is supplying the speakers and trainers for the annual Kafulafutu Mission Conference. Large crowds participate in this event - some conferences have seen over 9,000 Zambians attend.
A team will be assembled this year to work specifically with the children; Jay Grimwood has been asked to oversee this aspect of the project. The adult ministries kick into high gear after the children's ministries. Jeff Adams will be the key-note speaker for the adults, accompanied by Jamacian evangelists Brother Bob Weston and Dr. Lloyd Burnett. It is the desire of KCBT to see Jamaican pastors integrated into Zambian ministries and mission works. |
